If elected as a City Councillor, what would be your top priority, and how will you address it?
As city councillor, addressing the affordable housing crisis and escalating homelessness will be of utmost importance to me. I will advocate for easing of zoning restrictions allowing upto 4 units in a single lot throughout all neighbourhoods and even more units in neighbourhoods along the major streets. Construction is already far behind demand. According to a recent population projection by Statistics Canada, tens of thousands of immigrants are going to settle in Ontario most of them in Toronto and this trend will continue for years.
What should the next City Council do about housing in Toronto? Why?
The next city council should take up the housing issue at its first opportunity of business. It must discuss, debate and vote on it before they move to any other item on the agenda even if it takes days. Housing is a human rights issue. It is long overdue that Toronto City Council take some concrete measures. I drive taxi to make a living. My customers often share their struggle with me in finding a place or continuing to pay rent on time. Nearly 60% of their income goes to pay rent leaving little money for food & other necessities.
What should the next City Council do to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce its progression? How?
We have done a poor job up until now to create the right public awareness about climate change and its adverse effects on the environment and on the global community. We have a tough job to rally the public behind this issue of considerable concerns. We need to plant more trees and enforce by-laws around cutting down existing trees across the city.In the long run, every individual will bear the burden of polluted air and destruction of green space. We should accelerate the process of converting buses and motor vehicles to run on electric power.
What should the next City Council do to improve the ability of the people of Toronto to get around safely and efficiently? How?
We can enhance road safety by taking up measures like putting up more speed cameras and speed bumps, bringing down current speed limits on more city side streets. We should make our public transportation more reliable by bringing down occurance of service disruptions in Subways and bus services. We should take care of our roads especially after every winter when potholes abound on city streets and make travel bumpy/dangerous . Salting roads before the snowfalls and clearing snow/ice from roads and sidewalks after will make roads lot safer.
Should the next City Council change anything about municipal taxes or city services? Why?
After Covid-19, the quality of city services are on a steady decline. Municipal Licensing And Standards continue to offer virtual services. This adds stress to people not computer literate. Subway service disruptions frequent. The Taxi industry is fast disappearing due to high insurance/ maintenance costs and ever shrinking revenue. People wait longer at Island airport, bus terminals and subway stations due to PTC (Private Transportation Company) like Uber and lyft take longer and cost more. Wheel-trans service in need of improvement.
What should the next City Council do about the City of Toronto's approach to policing its residents and making our communities safe? Why?
Torontonians feel less and less safe after the pandemic. Among other crimes, brazen car thefts are making car owners extremly jittery if not general public. Knife attack is something once unheard of in Toronto is making its way to GTA. Also on the rise is panhandling and loitering. We must boost police surveilence in order to enchance law and order situation in these areas of security and safety.
If elected as a City Councillor, what would be your top priority, and how will you address it?
Housing and poverty reduction would be first priority, by defunding the police, taxing multiple unit land lords and other source would be diverted into social housing acquisition and development as well as regulation around rent and home ownership to ensure its used to live not used for profit.
What should the next City Council do about housing in Toronto? Why?
Decomodify housing, tax and regulate profit driven housing out of existence, build, aquire and maintain quality public and cooperative housing, stop attacking harassing and evicting homeless and poor sections of the population.
What should the next City Council do to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce its progression? How?
The city should work diligently to protect habitats and green spaces while working to improve transit and the industrial sector it is possible to do both even if it will be difficult
What should the next City Council do to improve the ability of the people of Toronto to get around safely and efficiently? How?
We should build and organize infrastructure like transit bike lanes road ways and pedestrian overpasses to promote safe travel through out the city look at reducing over stressed areas

Yes the city council should look to tax, wealthy individuals and corporations to fund social programs and infrastructure
What should the next City Council do about the City of Toronto's approach to policing its residents and making our communities safe? Why?
We should dismantle the carceral system, that abuses and attacks marginalized people and look at introducing restorative justice models.
What should the next City Council do about housing in Toronto? Why?
Housing needs to get built. We must encourage development of new homes by reducing development charges and we must allow a larger variety of housing to get built regardless of zoning rules, as well as legalizing multi-tenant housing. Housing, both owning as well as rentals, are quickly spiraling out of reach. People need to be able to afford to live in the city! We must also look at other tools we have at our disposal to reduce rents and protect tenants from bad-faith evictions.
What should the next City Council do about the City of Toronto's approach to policing its residents and making our communities safe? Why?
I believe there is systemic failure within the Toronto Police, between the recent release of the use-of-force and race report in June 2022 (which seemed to have resulted in no consequences), and the recent highlight of heavy enforcement against cyclists in cyclist-friendly places, there seems to be misplaced priorities. Toronto Police should be enforcing laws against activity that results in accidents and injuries, like distracted driving and speeding by motorists, instead of cyclists.
What should the next City Council do to improve the ability of the people of Toronto to get around safely and efficiently? How?
The TTC does a great job of servicing most major streets in the city, but the further you get away from subway infrastructure, the less reliable your commute becomes. Scarborough, especially more North and East, deserve to have more invested in their transit infrastructure (Eglinton LRT could continue East at Kennedy?). While the Line 3 RT is shut down for minimum 8 years, there should be priority bus lanes for the shuttle busses there. For safety, I believe evening and night service should be increased, especially to accommodate shift workers.
Should the next City Council change anything about municipal taxes or city services? Why?
It really depends on what your priority is as an individual in this city; do you want lower taxes, and accept worse or nonexistent services? Deteriorating parks, no lifeguards for public pools, slow response to maintenance and emergency calls? Do you say the uncomfortable truth, that you can't improve city services without increasing taxation? Do not trust anyone who can tell you that you can have both lower taxes and better services. It must all be balanced against the affordability of our lower-income residents, who can't afford to pay more.
What should the next City Council do to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce its progression? How?
Start with the easy and obvious; planting more trees to improve Toronto's tree canopy (We don't need to reinvent the wheel on this one). We can encourage lower dependence on personal vehicles for shorter trips by enabling alternative forms of transportation; build cycling/active infrastructure all over the city, make using transit a more appealing option (either by increasing service or by reducing fares), and building our communities to be less spread out, so that needs aren't so far away from where people live.
If elected as a City Councillor, what would be your top priority, and how will you address it?
The very first thing a new council should do is cancel the security contracts meant to keep the unhoused out of Toronto parks, while providing them with nowhere else to go. Criminalizing the unhoused does nothing to get them into housing, it just makes their lives harder. As a new council will begin in the winter, we should quickly establish more shelter spaces and public heating centres.
If elected as a City Councillor, what would be your top priority, and how will you address it?
Fatal collisions on our streets are preventable, unnecessary, & quickly addressed. When dangerous roads are scheduled for reconstruction, they should be redesigned into safe 21st century urban streets. Interim retrofits could be done to traffic-calm streets & provide safe options for active transportation so fewer car trips are necessary. Automated enforcement for speeding has been very effective. Safer streets are possible, & they can be vibrant, beautiful public places for our community.
What should the next City Council do about housing in Toronto? Why?
1. Allow for more diverse housing types, e.g. low-rise apartments, to be built where currently it's not permitted. 2. Use City-owned land to build more affordable housing at every opportunity 3. Incentivize builders to quickly create family-sized units, affordable or below-market-rate housing 4. Invest in existing Toronto Community Housing & shelters to improve conditions and maintain them going forward 5. Strengthen the City's planning department to help speed up proposals and permits, & eliminate unnecessary reviews and revisions
What should the next City Council do to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce its progression? How?
1. Provide safe, quick, cost-effective, & reliable alternatives to driving so more trips are taken by walking, cycling, or public transit. Invest in safer streets so walking & cycling are possible. Prioritize transit at intersections & add frequent all-day service. 2. Develop incentives for new & existing buildings to be net-zero, incl. transition from natural gas 3. Expand City's tree canopy & green spaces & support programs like the city’s Ravine Strategy 4. Introduce stormwater surcharge & other climate-friendly policies
What should the next City Council do to improve the ability of the people of Toronto to get around safely and efficiently? How?
Expand TTC 10-minute network. Add more transit priority lanes & intersections. Create high-quality, safe networks for active transportation. Integrate TTC-GO fare to allow for regional travel. Expand TTC express bus network. Expand Bike Share network. Redesign streets to be safer to minimize collisions. Invest in more transport choices for residents moving around so that unnecessary car trips can be reduced, making necessary car trips easier.
What should the next City Council do about the City of Toronto's approach to policing its residents and making our communities safe? Why?
Crime & safety has not been sufficiently addressed given how large the police budget is. We need to better scrutinize the police budget to focus on priorities. We should follow best practices that have been long identified as addressing the roots of youth violence: funding social programs for youth, bringing families out of poverty, creating spaces for youth to gather safely, etc. This is an ongoing, nuanced conversation that our community needs to move forward on together.
Should the next City Council change anything about municipal taxes or city services? Why?
Yes, absolutely. The City's finances are in shambles & the budget totally mismanaged. We need to diversify our revenue sources beyond property taxes to properly invest in our growing city. We must prioritize new infrastructure & funding existing infrastructure & services. We need a transparent, accessible public process for engaging on the budget. We must invest in the city for our future.
