Issue answers

The Mayor and City Council

What's the most important thing you'd act on as Mayor, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

We will create truly affordable housing options for everyone who wishes to be in a home, and in many cases, provide ways to be able to own the place you live.

Housing

Housing costs weigh on Torontonians whether they rent or own, access to subsidized housing is limited, and a growing number of people have no home at all. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people find and keep a secure place to live?

We need to make sure that more housing is available to those who wish to rent, and those who wish to purchase. My team is preparing a plan that goes well beyond anything seen in this city. Details will be released in late Sept/early October.

Cost of Living

The cost of daily life keeps climbing — housing, transit fares, city fees, etc. What is one thing you would prioritize on the next City Council to make Toronto more affordable, soon enough to matter to residents?

The TTC must be fully covered by government. We are already paying enough in our taxes to do this. Many place in Canada and around the world have done it already. The TTC is the least supported transit system in North America. It's time to fund it properly. Further, property taxes must be lowered as soon as possible.

Safety in Public Spaces

Some Torontonians don't feel safe in parks, on transit, or on certain streets, even where reported crime is low. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people be and feel safe in the city's public spaces?

We need more neighbourhood officer walking a beat. Individuals that will have a personal connection to the residents. They will not be "interlopers", but rather extended members of the community. There for the good of all.

Getting Around the City

Getting around the city is a source of frustration for many Torontonians, whether people drive, take transit, cycle, or walk. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to improve how people move around the city, however they travel?

Absolutely. Accessible transportation that does not break your budget. And bike lanes strategically planned on secondary routes for the health and safety of the riders.

Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour

Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone?

City Council needs to plan more events and activities that promote community togetherness. We need less "divisive" events. We are all here to have safe lives and support each other during foreign conflicts, not mak matters worse. A Unified voice will get more action than infighting does.
