The Mayor and City Council

What's the most important thing you'd act on as Mayor, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My top priority would be making Toronto safer, more affordable and better managed—fixing infrastructure, improving transit, expanding housing and strengthening public services while protecting taxpayers. My experience leading Business Technology, Operations and Complex Projects has taught me how to manage large teams, budgets, risk and accountability. As Mayor, I would bring practical, data-driven leadership, measurable results and strong partnerships across City Hall and all levels of government. Elect Sandeep Srivastava for Mayor of Toronto

Housing

Housing costs weigh on Torontonians whether they rent or own, access to subsidized housing is limited, and a growing number of people have no home at all. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people find and keep a secure place to live?

I would make housing supply, affordability and homelessness a top City Hall priority. I would accelerate approvals for purpose-built rental, affordable and supportive housing; use public land strategically; encourage gentle density near transit; strengthen action against bad-faith evictions; and expand shelter-to-housing pathways. I would also pursue provincial and federal funding so Toronto can build more homes without placing the full burden on municipal taxpayers. Elect Sandeep Srivastava for Mayor of Toronto

Cost of Living

The cost of daily life keeps climbing — housing, transit fares, city fees, etc. What is one thing you would prioritize on the next City Council to make Toronto more affordable, soon enough to matter to residents?

My priority would be reducing the cost of getting around Toronto by making transit more reliable, affordable and accessible while improving road efficiency and reducing congestion. I would also push City Hall to find operating efficiencies, reduce unnecessary costs and protect essential services before asking residents for more taxes or fees. Affordability means measurable savings and better value for every Toronto taxpayer. Elect Sandeep Srivastava for Mayor of Toronto

Safety in Public Spaces

Some Torontonians don't feel safe in parks, on transit, or on certain streets, even where reported crime is low. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people be and feel safe in the city's public spaces?

I would prioritize visible, responsive and community-focused public safety. That means targeted police presence where data identifies risks, safer TTC stations and vehicles, better lighting and maintenance, traffic safety measures, and faster responses to disorder. I would also expand mental-health, addiction and outreach services so police are not the only response. Every resident should be able to use Toronto’s parks, streets and transit with confidence. Elect Sandeep Srivastava for Mayor of Toronto

Getting Around the City

Getting around the city is a source of frustration for many Torontonians, whether people drive, take transit, cycle, or walk. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to improve how people move around the city, however they travel?

I would prioritize a coordinated transportation plan that improves TTC reliability, repairs roads and bridges, reduces congestion and makes walking and cycling safer. I would use traffic and transit data to optimize signal timing, construction coordination and road use, while expanding transit capacity where demand is highest. Toronto needs a transportation network that moves people efficiently—whether they drive, take transit, cycle or walk. Elect Sandeep Srivastava for Mayor of Toronto

Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour

Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone?

I would prioritize preventing hate, protecting vulnerable communities and ensuring every Torontonian feels safe and respected. City Hall should strengthen reporting & rapid-response partnerships with police, community organizations and affected communities; support education and prevention programs; protect community institutions and public spaces; and ensure hate incidents are addressed promptly. Toronto must be welcoming to newcomers and stand firmly against antisemitism, racism, Islamophobia and all forms of hate. Vote Srivastava for Mayor
