Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My top priority would be ensuring equitable access to education and support for every student. Through my nonprofit work delivering menstrual health education outreach, I've built strong relationships with diverse communities, educators, and stakeholders. My ability to connect people, build trust, and leverage community partnerships would help me advocate for inclusive programming, stronger student supports, and meaningful family engagement. I believe collaboration is key to creating lasting change in our schools.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

As a Food Bank and Case Manager, I've seen how discrimination and systemic barriers impact families. I believe Trustees must champion safer, inclusive schools where every student feels valued. I would advocate for stronger anti-bullying policies, transparent reporting, mental health supports, and equity training for all administration and staff. Most importantly, I would ensure students and families are heard, supported, and included in decisions. Every child deserves to learn in an environment rooted in dignity, respect, and belonging.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

As Parent Council Chair, I've heard firsthand how staffing shortages and large class sizes affect students, educators, and families. As Trustee, I would advocate for adequate teacher and EA staffing, manageable class sizes, and equitable resource allocation, especially for students requiring additional support. I would prioritize listening to parents and educators, ensuring transparency in staffing decisions, and advocating for increased funding. Every student deserves the attention and support needed to thrive and succeed.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

Special education would be my top priority. As a Case Manager, I've worked with families raising children with complex needs and witnessed the barriers they face accessing essential supports. As Trustee, I would advocate for equitable access to specialized programs, more EAs, individualized learning supports, and resources closer to home. No family should have to fight or struggle for better support for their children.
