Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

I would focus on student well‑being by ensuring schools have strong mental health resources, protecting and expanding specialized programs, and advocating for academic success that recognizes every child learns differently. My years in government, our community groups, and volunteering with students give me the experience to help me make this happen.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

Growing up in YSW and being part of ESP and R.I.S.E, I learned how vital it is for trustees to be involved when schools address bullying and discrimination. Trustees should help start these conversations, act as liaisons for parents and students, and facilitate meetings to keep neutrality. I support clear protocols that ensure students are heard, incidents are reported, investigated, and resolved so victims feel safe trusting adults again.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

I will continue to support smaller class sizes and strong staffing so every child has the academic opportunities they deserve. As trustee, I would work closely with school communities to ensure their concerns are heard and reflected in decisions affecting students, staff, and families. Prioritizing adequate staffing and manageable class sizes is essential to helping all learners succeed.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

As trustee, I would ensure specialized programs remain accessible in every school, both in person and online. In a fast‑changing world shaped by AI, students need strong digital skills, support for diverse language learning, and spaces that preserve creativity. I would also prioritize giving students who need extra help the tools and resources to thrive.
