Issue answers
Trustees, the Board, and the Province
What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen? My first priority is putting Catholic faith into action so every child is safe, valued and supported. I would advocate for restoring elected trustees’ decision making authority, with strong accountability and transparency about where funds go. I bring over 15 years of school advocacy, experience overseeing building subcommittee budgets and decades of community service. Guided by faith and persistence, I would work with fellow trustees and advocate directly to the province for the resources our TCDSB communities need.
As a trustee, I would advocate for stronger bullying and discrimination policies, accountability and prompt action. Too often, children being bullied go unheard. We must address their concerns before harm escalates and show them their voice matters that caring Catholic adults are listening. Both families must be involved. I support meaningful consequences that consider age and developmental abilities, with support to change behaviour. Catholic values demand dignity, respect and safe schools for every child.
As a trustee, I would advocate for staffing and class sizes that reflect students’ needs. Expecting a teacher to support 30 students, including children with varied IEPs and significant needs, without adequate help is unfair to everyone. My priorities would be more EA support, appropriate resources and thoughtful classroom planning. Inclusion must be supported so every child can participate meaningfully, teachers can teach effectively, and EAs have the support they need. I would listen to families and staff and press for funding where needed.
Special Programs and Program Access
School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed? As a trustee, I would prioritize fair access to specialized programs close to home. Children needing special education should receive support at their home school or nearby, with flexible participation guided by their individual needs. Arts nurture creativity and self expression, and every child deserves that opportunity. I support strong French language learning, reflecting Canada’s bilingual identity. I would advocate for resources so access to these programs does not depend on a family’s income or neighbourhood.
