Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My most important priority would be making sure every student is heard, supported and given a fair chance to succeed. As a PIAC representative and school-council member, I’ve sat with parents who brought forward genuine concerns, only to leave meetings wondering, “Who will actually act on this?” I’ve felt that frustration myself. It taught me that listening is only the first step, accountability and follow-through matter. As Trustee, I will turn parents’ voices into measurable action and keep families informed every step of the way.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

Bullying and discrimination have no place in our schools. As a trustee, I would support prevention, clear reporting, student support, and accountability. My experience as a school-council member, Co-Chair and Chair, along with four years representing parents through the TDSB Parent Advisory Council, has taught me the importance of listening to families. I will work to ensure concerns are taken seriously, policies are implemented consistently, and every student feels safe, respected, and included.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

As a school-council member, I’ve listened directly to parents who worry when classrooms are stretched and students don’t receive the attention they need. One parent told me, “My child needs help, but the teacher simply doesn’t have enough time.” That stayed with me. As Trustee, I will be a strong voice for students, parents and educators & advocating for appropriate staffing, EA support, manageable class sizes and transparent decisions that put student needs first.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

My school-council experience has shown me that equitable access requires measurable accountability. As Trustee, I would push for school-by-school reporting on program capacity, enrolment, waitlists, staffing, placement timelines and geographic access. I would support annual reviews of gaps and publish progress against clear targets. Families should receive timely information and meaningful avenues to raise concerns. Specialized programs must be accessible, properly resourced and evaluated by outcomes and not just intentions.
