Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

I believe that investing in the public education system is the foundation of a strong community. Growing up in TDSB schools shaped who I am, and I want every student to have the support and opportunities they need to succeed. My priority would be making sure decisions at the TDSB reflect what students, families and educators are actually experiencing. My background in finance and technology, along with years of working with youth in Scarborough, has taught me to listen, navigate complex systems and turn ideas into practical action.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

Students should feel safe and supported at school, and parents should feel confident that concerns will actually be taken seriously. As trustee, I would push for clear ways to report bullying and discrimination, consistent follow-up and better communication with families. We should also take a proactive approach and focus on prevention by supporting mental health, positive school environments and the staff who support our students every day.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

When classrooms are stretched, both students and educators feel the impact. I would listen to teachers, EAs and families to understand where the biggest gaps are and advocate for resources where they are needed most, especially for students who need additional support. I also believe staffing decisions should be transparent, with families understanding how and why resources are allocated. When funding or provincial decisions limit what the TDSB can do, trustees should be clear about those challenges and advocate for what our schools need.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

Growing up in the TDSB, I had the opportunity to take part in programs like Extended French and the International Baccalaureate program. I know firsthand how valuable these opportunities can be, and I will always advocate for strong investment in education and access to programs that help students grow. Where a student lives shouldn't determine the opportunities available to them. I would focus on making programs more accessible across the TDSB and addressing barriers like transportation, waitlists and a lack of clear information for families.
