Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My main goal is to help create a safe and supportive school environment where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. I believe this starts with listening—to parents, teachers and students—and building better communication between them. My strength is listening, identifying the real problems and bringing people together to find practical solutions. When bigger issues need action, I will make sure those voices are heard at the Board and beyond. It takes a village, and strong schools help build a stronger society.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and our schools and community are a big part of that village. Every child deserves to feel safe, respected and included at school. When racism or bullying happens, we need to listen, take it seriously and act. But we also need to focus on prevention. That means bringing parents, teachers, students and our community together. We need to teach kindness, respect and understanding from an early age. As a trustee, I want to listen to families, bring people together and make sure our schools are

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

I believe the first step is to listen and learn. As a Trustee, I would take the time to better understand the challenges around class sizes and staffing by speaking directly with parents, teachers, educational assistants and students. I would then work with the Board to find practical solutions that put our children’s needs first. It takes a village, and our educators and families are an important part of that village.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

I believe school should be a place where every child has the opportunity to discover their talents, build confidence and find a path toward a bright future. Whether it’s through special education, languages, arts or other specialized programs, every child deserves the support they need to grow and succeed. I would listen closely to parents, teachers and students to understand where the gaps are and work toward fair access and more opportunities. It takes a village to raise a child, and our schools should help every child discover what they are
