Issue answers
Trustees, the Board, and the Province
What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen? My priority is ensuring every student has access to safe, inclusive, well-resourced public education. As a lifelong Ward 6 resident, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and professional supporting children with disabilities; I bring frontline experience working in Section 23 classrooms and volunteering in my community. I have had difficult conversations with decision-makers to advocate for students. As Trustee, I would demand transparency, advocate for equitable provincial funding, to keep public assets and to hold the Board accountable.
A safe and inclusive school environment is essential for every student to thrive. As a Trustee, I would advocate for proactive approaches to bullying, discrimination, and identity-based harassment, with clear accountability and meaningful support. I would push for stronger implementation of TDSB policies, accessible reporting, timely follow-up, and culturally responsive, trauma-informed supports. I would also champion prevention through mental health resources and inclusive learning environments. Ensuring each student feels safe and supported.
Students need adequate resources and support. As a Trustee, I would advocate for manageable class sizes, sufficient staffing, and equitable funding. My experience supporting children with disabilities and families navigating IEPs, accommodations, and transportation has shown me how gaps affect learning and well-being. I would push for transparent reporting on staffing, class sizes, unmet needs, and resource distribution, while advocating to the Province for sustainable funding and holding the Board accountable.
Special Programs and Program Access
School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?Every student deserves an education that meets their needs. I would advocate for equitable access to special education and specialized programs. My work supporting children with disabilities has shown me the barriers families face navigating IEPs, accommodations, and services. I would push for transparent communication between schools and families regarding programming, fair resource distribution and ensuring students with disabilities and their families receive the support they need to succeed.
