Trustees, the Board, and the Province
What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen? My top priority would be improving student achievement while ensuring schools are safe, supportive and accountable. As a parent and business owner, I bring practical experience in problem-solving, managing resources and listening to different perspectives. I would use those strengths to focus on measurable outcomes, responsible spending and making sure decisions at the Board translate into meaningful improvements for students, families and educators.
Every student deserves to feel safe, respected and included at school. As a Trustee, I would support clear reporting processes, timely intervention and accountability when bullying or discrimination occurs. I would also advocate for staff training, stronger prevention programs, and meaningful student and parent input. My goal would be to ensure Board policies translate into action and that every school fosters a culture of respect, belonging and responsibility.
As a Trustee, I would listen to educators, EAs, students and families to understand where staffing gaps are affecting learning and safety. I would prioritize responsible budgeting that directs resources toward classrooms, supports students with additional needs, and helps maintain manageable class sizes. I would also advocate for transparent staffing data and accountability so the Board can identify shortages, respond to high-need schools and ensure students receive the support they need.
Special Programs and Program Access
School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?I would prioritize equitable access to specialized programs while recognizing that each student and community has different needs. As a Trustee, I would advocate for transparent criteria, fair distribution of resources, and meaningful input from students, parents and educators. Programs should be accessible, sustainable and supported by evidence, with particular attention to students who need additional supports. Every student should have the opportunity to discover their strengths and reach their potential.
