Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My top priority is ensuring every student has access to safe, inclusive, and well-resourced schools where they can thrive. I will continue advocating to close Ontario’s education funding gap, strengthen student supports, and improve achievement and well-being. Since being elected Trustee in 2022, I have served in key leadership roles, including Chair of the Program and School Services Committee. With over 10 years of governance, advocacy, and community engagement experience, I have the skills to bring people together and deliver results.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

Bullying, discrimination, and hate have no place in our schools. Trustees must ensure strong policies, accountability, and safe, respectful learning environments where every student feels valued and included. I support evidence-based prevention programs, staff training, student supports, clear reporting, and meaningful community engagement. In 2023, I helped advance TDSB’s Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Strategy, strengthening efforts to combat hate and racism in all forms. Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, included, and able to thrive.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

As your Trustee, I will advocate for fair and transparent staffing decisions that prioritize student needs. Every school should have the teachers, EAs, and supports required for student success. I will work to ensure resources are allocated equitably, champion manageable smaller class sizes, and push for data-informed planning that reflects enrolment, student needs, and school community realities. I will advocate to close the $6.5-billion funding gap. Strong staffing levels are essential to safe, supportive, and effective learning environments.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

As your Trustee, I will continue to prioritize equitable access to high-quality programs for all students, regardless of where they live or their circumstances. Special Education, language, arts, and specialized programs should be responsive to student needs and accessible across the system. Model Schools are a proven investment with evidence of better early childhood outcomes, stronger academic achievement, and higher graduation rates. My public service is grounded in providing equity of access to learning opportunities for all students.
