Issue answers
Trustees, the Board, and the Province
What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen? As a youth advocate, my priority is a future where every child in Don Valley East and West has the support to dream big and succeed. I know our schools from the inside because I recently came through them myself. Through my student union and the Canadian Federation of Students, I have spent years fighting for students and parents to be heard. I will bring that experience to pressing TDSB and the province for fair resources and schools ready for our future. Your child's future will guide every stand I take and your voice will help shape my work.
Every child in Don Valley East and West deserves to feel safe, accepted and proud of who they are at school. Our schools serve families with different languages, cultures and learning needs. I will push for reporting every parent can use, adults who act when children are hurt, and support that helps children rebuild their confidence. I will challenge bullying, racism and discrimination, and press for stronger supervision and action on every report. Your child deserves to walk into school ready to learn, make friends and believe in their future.
School space and staffing must keep pace with new housing in Don Valley East and West. Families already here and those moving into our neighbourhoods deserve a clear plan for their children's education. I will press for smaller classes, enough teachers and educational assistants, and support based on each child's needs. Growth must come with welcoming classrooms and adults with the time to give each child support. I will push TDSB and the province to plan ahead so parents can see their children grow in confidence and reach their full potential.
Special Programs and Program Access
School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?A child's future in Don Valley East and West should never be limited by which programs their family can reach. With French programs spread across different schools and entry points, I will push for clear information for all parents, reliable transport and learning support in both English and French. I will stand up for timely special education support and strong music and arts opportunities close to home. Parents will have my support in challenging barriers of cost, distance or confusing applications. Every child's talents deserve room to grow.
