Issue answers

Trustees, the Board, and the Province

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a school board trustee, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

I would put student success first: strong reading and math skills, safe schools, and opportunities for every child to thrive. I would listen to families, support teachers, and push for clear targets, public progress reports, and responsible spending that prioritizes classrooms. With an electrical engineering background and 30 years working with children and families through sports and community programs, I bring practical problem-solving skills to turn community concerns into measurable action.

Bullying in Schools

Bullying and discrimination are concerns raised in many school communities. What role do you believe a School Board Trustee should play in addressing these issues, and what actions would you support?

A trustee should make sure every student is treated with dignity and has a safe place to learn. I would support clear reporting procedures timely responses and regular communication with families. I would also encourage prevention through respectful school cultures education and support for students who experience bullying or discrimination. The Board should track patterns across schools share what works and ensure staff have the training and resources to act early and fairly.

Class Sizes and Staffing

Some school communities have raised concerns about teacher and educational-assistant (EA) staffing levels and class sizes. What role would you take as a School Board Trustee in addressing these concerns, and what would your priorities be?

I would listen to school communities and use Board data and local experience to identify staffing and class size pressures. I would advocate for fair transparent resource allocation with priority for students who need additional support including educational assistants and special education services. Trustees should press the Province for adequate funding while monitoring whether resources reach classrooms. Parents and staff deserve clear explanations about decisions and meaningful opportunities to provide input.

Special Programs and Program Access

School boards make decisions about the range and distribution of specialized programs, including special education, language programs, and arts programming. What would you prioritize as a School Board Trustee in how these programs are offered and accessed?

I would prioritize fair access to strong programs across the TDSB while recognizing the different needs of each school community. Special education students should receive timely support and families should have clear information about available services. Language and arts programs should be offered transparently and without unnecessary barriers. I would listen to parents educators and students review demand and outcomes and support practical planning so program access is equitable across Ward 9.
