Issue answers

The Mayor and City Council

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a City Councillor, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

As City Councillor, my priority focus will be relief tax burden with efficient fiscal management and tackling the rising cost of living. I would like to bring my financial, technology and business cross-industry professional experience to Toronto’s Ward 10.

Housing

Housing costs weigh on Torontonians whether they rent or own, access to subsidized housing is limited, and a growing number of people have no home at all. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people find and keep a secure place to live?

We will change the zoning, encourage the conversion of homes into multiplex homes and other zoning changes, and raise the vacancy tax—using this part of the tax revenue to address housing issues—while also communicating with higher levels of government to secure additional funding for housing subsidies.

Cost of Living

The cost of daily life keeps climbing — housing, transit fares, city fees, etc. What is one thing you would prioritize on the next City Council to make Toronto more affordable, soon enough to matter to residents?

Prudent and efficient fiscal management and tax reform, cut TTC/transit commuting costs

Safety in Public Spaces

Some Torontonians don't feel safe in parks, on transit, or on certain streets, even where reported crime is low. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people be and feel safe in the city's public spaces?

Increase police presence and strengthen mental health support

Getting Around the City

Getting around the city is a source of frustration for many Torontonians, whether people drive, take transit, cycle, or walk. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to improve how people move around the city, however they travel?

Leverage technology to transportation, to balance the need for road and lane closures. Also, we need to maintain the TTC and our road network well so they deliver their full value in the congested downtown core; to this end, I will improve the service and upgrade facilities and maintenance.

Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour

Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone?

Toronto is a city of diversity. We will promote the reporting of hate incidents and strengthen related legislation. Additionally, we will empower communities to host more programs that foster communication, resolve conflicts, and build mutual understanding among residents. On top of that, we will be there to support anyone who has been hurt.
