The Mayor and City Council

What's the most important thing you'd act on as a City Councillor, and what experience or strengths would help you make it happen?

My top priority is restoring public safety in Ward 12 while making Toronto safer, cleaner, and more affordable. With over six years of experience in provincial government, helping thousands of constituents, and my volunteer leadership with Toronto Police Service, I understand how to turn community concerns into action. I will focus on stronger public safety, reducing traffic congestion, responsible spending, working with all levels of government and ensuring residents' voices are heard at City Hall.

Housing

Housing costs weigh on Torontonians whether they rent or own, access to subsidized housing is limited, and a growing number of people have no home at all. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people find and keep a secure place to live?

I will prioritize faster housing approvals, expanding rental supply, and investing in affordable and sustainable housing. We must reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and work with private developers, nonprofits, and all levels of government to deliver real solutions. Homelessness requires more than temporary shelters—we need permanent supportive housing with access to mental health and addiction services. Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home.

Cost of Living

The cost of daily life keeps climbing — housing, transit fares, city fees, etc. What is one thing you would prioritize on the next City Council to make Toronto more affordable, soon enough to matter to residents?

My priority is to freeze property taxes until a full review of City spending is completed. Toronto families cannot afford endless tax increases. Too often, federal and provincial responsibilities place additional pressure on Toronto’s budget. We need stronger collaboration with all levels of government to ensure fair funding, eliminate wasteful spending, protect essential services, and bring affordability back to Toronto residents.

Safety in Public Spaces

Some Torontonians don't feel safe in parks, on transit, or on certain streets, even where reported crime is low. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to help people be and feel safe in the city's public spaces?

Public safety is my top priority. I will advocate for increased police presence (additionally hiring 1000 officers), stronger enforcement of bylaws, and zero tolerance for violence, hate-motivated crimes, and drug use on public transit. Parks, streets, and the TTC must be safe for everyone. We also need better mental health and addiction support, alongside proactive policing and community partnerships. Residents deserve not only to be safe but to feel safe in their own neighbourhoods.

Getting Around the City

Getting around the city is a source of frustration for many Torontonians, whether people drive, take transit, cycle, or walk. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to improve how people move around the city, however they travel?

I will prioritize reducing congestion, improving TTC reliability, and ensuring safe travel for everyone. We must fix bottlenecks like Allen Road, enforce rush-hour parking restrictions, and review bike lanes on major roads. Our arterial roads must remain accessible, especially for essential vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police responding to emergencies. Better road planning, coordinated construction, reliable transit, and safer pedestrian crossings will keep Toronto moving.

Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour

Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone?

As an immigrant, I believe Toronto must remain a city where everyone feels safe, respected, and welcome. I will prioritize stronger enforcement against hate-motivated crimes, intimidation, and harassment, while protecting peaceful expression. We must strengthen partnerships with police, community organizations, and cultural groups, protect vulnerable communities, and ensure our streets, schools, and places of worship remain safe for everyone.
