Issue answers
My top priority would be making Willowdale more affordable, with a focus on housing, responsible development, and reliable local services. I would listen closely to residents, work collaboratively to find practical solutions, and ensure decisions are transparent and accountable. My strengths in communication, problem-solving, and community engagement would help me represent Willowdale residents and turn their concerns into meaningful action.
I would push to use City-owned land for affordable and non-profit housing, accelerate approvals for suitable housing developments, and strengthen partnerships with federal and provincial governments to secure funding. New housing must include options for low- and moderate-income households, families, seniors, and young people—not just those who can afford market prices. I would advocate for stronger support for low-income renters, improved access to rent assistance, and better enforcement of housing standarts.
I would prioritize immediate cost-of-living relief by keeping TTC fares affordable, expanding discounts for low-income residents, and reviewing City fees to reduce unnecessary burdens on families and seniors. In Willowdale, residents need practical relief now, alongside responsible City spending that protects essential services without placing additional pressure on household budgets.
I would prioritize making Willowdale’s parks, streets, and transit areas safer through better lighting, regular maintenance, and a stronger visible community safety presence. I would also support timely responses to safety concerns, mental health crisis services, and outreach for vulnerable residents. By listening to residents and working with the TTC, police, and community organizations, I would focus on practical solutions that help people feel safe and welcome in public spaces.
I would prioritize safer, more reliable, and better-connected transportation in Willowdale. This means improving TTC service, addressing traffic congestion, maintaining sidewalks and roads, and creating safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists. I would listen to residents, identify local problem areas, and work toward practical improvements that help everyone get around the city safely, efficiently, and accessibly.
Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour
Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone?I would prioritize preventing hate, discrimination, and harassment while ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome in Willowdale. I would strengthen partnerships with cultural and faith communities, support public education and accessible reporting of hate incidents, and work with community organizations and City services to respond quickly when concerns arise. Everyone deserves to live, work, and gather in Toronto with dignity, respect, and equal protection.
