Issue answers
The most important thing that I would act on as a City Councillor is dealing with safety issue like removing snow after heavy snow fall . With the winter months approaching and with the expectation of a snowfall, it is important that the residents or citizens driveway are safe for them to enter their home. The excessive snow in their driveway is a safety concern especially for the residents who are very working and seniors. This is an accountable concern and must be dealt with ensuring safety measures are taken care of at all times.
The cost of living continue to rise in Toronto on a daily basis. However, matters like this must be taken into consideration from on a collaborative effort based on collective decisions. This matter is a team effort and working together to find solutions to the problem is necessary. If the current Councilors already made a submission to deal with this issue it could be looked at ensuring that the matter be dealt with based on urgency. What I could do though is to make a recommendation based on the City's current situation.
From my perspective the issues with Cost of Living should include all levels of Government to alleviate the pressure off the Municipal Government. They should be working together ensuring that every citizen or resident in the City of Toronto situation is dealt with based on a need analysis or assessment. However, this is a collaborative effort with the other team members to make an informed and wise decision. Also, looking at previous submission that were made in dealing with the situation could be imperative .
Safety is a huge concern everywhere. I would ensure that the following safety concerns are addressed for the safety of Torontonians. Assessing the concerns would be paramount to make an appropriate decision and if necessary request to enhance what is currently in place. For example, install proper signage, ensuring that proper lighting are implemented and cameras. Also, if excess shrubs are around, get them removed in the summer time. This decision must be collectively made.
Working with the appropriate agencies making certain that the concerns are addressed accordingly. A partnership would have to made with the appropriate issue in dealing with the issues. If there is no agency involved then establishing one could be a solution to deal with the situation like for residents who are walking. This is a matter for all members of the team to deal with.
Confronting Hateful and Hostile Behaviour
Many Torontonians are concerned about hateful and hostile behaviour, which can disproportionately affect newcomers and members of racialized, marginalized, and equity-deserving communities. What would you prioritize on the next City Council to respond and keep Toronto safe and welcoming for everyone? This is a very sensitive area and must be taken into consideration seriously. Therefore, unless it's a matter that is out of control it will have to be addressed accordingly. Toronto is a multicultural society and everyone must be treated equally. A matter like this would have to be referred to the appropriate department to be dealt with. However, the decisions made must be dealt with collectively with the other team members.
